CHICKEN GROWERS WORKSHOP
Personnel from the breeding companies will run workshops for chicken growers on
‘Getting the most from your chickens – growing to the optimum temperature’.
There will be two workshops: one for growers using the Cobb bird and another for
growers using Ross and Arbor Acres stock. Each workshop is limited to 50 people
and is repeated once.
BREEDER WORKSHOP
Aziz Sacranie from Alltech will lead workshops discussing how to optimise egg
production. With a maximum of 15 people per workshop you’re sure to have your
questions addressed. The one and a half hour workshop will be repeated 4
times.
POST-MORTEM WORKSHOP
This workshop centres on a DVD provided by Schering Plough Intervet with
discussion lead by a Tom Grimes, a prominent poultry industry veterinarian. A
standardized approach to the investigation of a disease situation in a poultry
flock will be presented. Many of your questions about post mortem of poultry
will be answered. The workshops are for company field technicians and farmers.
Each workshop is limited to 20 people. The one and a half hour workshop will be
repeated 4 times.
HATCHERY WORKSHOP
Scott Martin from Cobb-Vantress USA will again lead small group discussion
sessions on optimising hatchable eggs. The one and a half hour workshop session
will be repeated in 4 time slots. Each group is limited to 20 people. The
program is designed specifically for people working in hatcheries.
EGG TUNNEL VENTILATION WORKSHOP
A one and half hour workshop for egg farmers focusing on managing cross flow or
tunnel ventilated sheds for layers or pullets will be run by Mike Czarick and
David Fairchild from University of Georgia, USA on Tuesday afternoon.
TUNNEL VENTILATION WORKSHOP

Back by popular demand, Mike Czarick, with Brian Fairchild (University of
Georgia, USA) will lead a one-day tunnel ventilation management workshop. The
workshop is aimed at meat chicken growers. Some sections are useful to egg
producers.
Mike and Brian will lead discussion about the adverse effects of wet litter,
managing house litter moisture, balancing house water usage. Also to be covered
are: bird cooling, light intensity, duration and spectrum have on bird
performance and managing house electricity usage.
Mike’s practical approach and wealth of knowledge about tunnel ventilation will
make this workshop one well worthwhile attending.
